My full name is Shelby Nicole Roberts. Born on January 27th, 1993 in Huber Heights, Ohio, located near Dayton. My mom, Tanya, and biological father divorced when I was a baby, leaving my mom and my brother, who is 7 years older than me, on our own. My mom got remarried when I was 3 years old and my "dad" Steve adopted my brother and I. After the marriage, we all moved to Richmond, Virginia.
Steve has been singing his whole life and did some acting, which got me into constantly performing with him and loving the industry since I was just a toddler. There are countless home videos and pictures of me singing and doing plays.
As I grew up, (which, I know my life is just beginning), I always wanted to be in the spotlight. Any time there was karaoke, you better believe I was up there singing and dancing away.
During elementary school, I did a few plays and such, but as I reached middle school, that was my dream. I took chorus, but found out I loved being on the stage acting just as much. Every musical and play there was, you could find me in it, even if only a small part.
I would even spend time memorizing my favorite movies and tv shows for practice, then making my friends watch me.
By this point, Ive lived in Ohio, Virginia, Texas, Colorado, Hawaii, Florida, and now back to Virginia. (Lynchburg Virginia to be exact, where I attend Jefferson Forest High School. And a little fun fact, our biggest school rival is Brookville High, where Phil Vassar attended!)
For the past 4 years or so, Ive tried to get as much experience in as possible. Starting in 8th grade, Ive taken theatre classes, done a list of school productions, gone on many drama trips to competitions/ect, as well as acting workshops in New York City!
Summer is here now, and even though my family has planned some trips, I want to start doing more productions out of school, like community theatre. Im excited to go into the 09-10 school year, where I'll be a junior! Im taking advanced theatre in school, and I cant be more excited to be up on stage again.
Hopefully though, my ultimate dream of acting with the big leagues with be coming true!
